Bristol Plans Cement Sidewalks on Hope High and Wood Streets

The Town Council unanimously approved a project to build new cement sidewalks along Hope High and Wood streets as part of an ERA plan. The article lauds the measure as practical and fair since adjacent property owners would not be assessed for costs, arguing it will improve appearance, safety in wet weather, and winter snow removal.

Bristol judge raises Barboza bail in Bristol case

Manuel Barboza of Bristol pleaded not guilty to a two and a half year old assault with a dangerous weapon charge after being arrested at his Thompson avenue home. Judge Lindemuth increased bail from 1000 to 2000 due to his record and eluding capture. Barboza had been free on bond from Antonio Borges, who withdrew after being informed of the seriousness. Barboza’s arrest in a long manhunt began Sept. 15, 1933 following an alleged stabbing outside a Columbia half on Wood street.
