Blind Boy Wins Honors at Roxbury Latin School
William C. Plunkett of 32 Hutchings Street Roxbury born blind from birth received a Lowell detur for excellence in his studies at Roxbury Latin School graduation exercises. He used braille and a braille typewriter for notes and relied on family help for readings when raised letters were unavailable. Harvard Club scholarships and a $50 gift from the class of 1888 endedowment fund were announced by president Philip D. Mosser.

Friday Boat Sinks After Crash at Castle Island Drawbridge
Five people aboard the 22 foot cabin launch Friday, owned by Richard Palmer of 804 Mast Ninth Street South Boston, were rescued when the wheel lashed craft struck Castle Island drawbridge. Winds allegedly forced the boat off course into the bridge causing a large bow hole and the vessel to sink.
