Turkish cruiser Medjidieh makes bold Dardanelles dash

In heavy fog the Turkish cruiser Medjidieh slipped past Greek destroyers at the Dardanelles. By noon she reached Syra in the Cyclades and bombarded noncoastal targets, destroying an electrical power station while powder magazines and coal depots remained undamaged.

Greek Cruiser Macedonia Scuttled in Syra Harbor

The Greek auxiliary cruiser Macedonia, under repair in Syra harbor, was sunk by its commander after landing a guard to maintain order and protect Turkish prisoners. The Medjidieh then headed toward Smyrna while Greek forces were ordered to intercept. Other Turkish warships reportedly remain at the Dardanelles.

Fire destroys McCaffrey block in Millinocket

A three story fire in Millinocket Missouri started in F. P. Banks plumbing and painting shop and burned the McCaffrey block causing about $50 000 damage. The blaze spread through inflammable stock affecting the Banks store a tailor shop a billiard parlor offices of Dr. J Stevens and Fred E. Doyle and the Masonic Hall all located in the block.

Thieves Make $300 Haul in Medford

Thieves entered the Medford apartment of Mrs. Rose Isenhaum at 184 Fellsway West while occupants were away in Malden and stole silverware clothing and other valuables. Mrs Isenhaum says her loss amounts to about $500 a correction of the earlier figure and police are investigating.

Lime blasts burn two Cambridge workers in apartment repair

Henry Hanson, 27, plasterer of Cambridge, suffered serious head and eye burns and may lose sight of one eye. His helper Harold Cusick, 14, of Cambridge, was also badly burned in both eyes. The incident occurred at 347 Green Street as Hanson showed Cusick how to mix lime when a can of whitewash with quick lime exploded.

Major Higginson Again Harvard Club Head

Major Henry Lee Higginson was reelected president of the Harvard Club of Boston at its annual meeting. The club converted from a voluntary association to a corporation, forming the Harvard Club and transferring its property. New officers include Odlin Roberts vice president F S Mead treasurer Philip W Thomson secretary and several directors. The club has 2668 members with 1600 membership applications filed for the planned new building on Massachusetts and Commonwealth avenues.
