The Norwegian steamer Banan nearly wrecked after two sailors dropped heavy anchors overboard and tried to clog propellers with steel wire as it sped toward Boston, according to officers.
Two Boston bound sailors were jailed in Boston and then sent to New York and finally to Norway after allegedly wrecking attempts aboard the Banan at Zocas del Toro Colombia. They allegedly cast rope and dropped steel wire toward the propeller to cripple the ship. If convicted on the high seas they face five to ten years in prison.
Eight year old Frank H. Lindley Jr. of High Rock street Lynn is ill with a mouth and throat disease puzzling local doctors. He says he ate wild berries two weeks ago and may have been poisoned. A physician consultation is set for today to determine the illness.
A boy fell ill a week after eating berries in the woods and complaining of soreness. His mother, who kissed him on the cheek, may have contracted the disease. doctors remain unsure of the diagnosis as the tongue and throat slowly disintegrate. George Higgins, nine, from High Rock Street, accompanied him in the woods.

The steam ship Imperator the largest vessel afloat was hit by a blaze at Hoboken dock with 1131 steerage passengers aboard. Second Officer C Gobrecht led crew into the hold to fight flames and died from smoke after being cut off. Seaman Otto Stumpf is missing and presumed dead.
Firefighters and shore apparatus waterlogged the Imperator as flames filled the steerage and second cabin. Two sailors, Gobrecht and Stumpf, perished in the blaze, while hundreds of workers fought to save the ship and evacuate passengers to Ellis Island.
Seaman Stumpf survived after being found presumed dead and revived in hospital. The Imperator sustained major smoke and water damage with nearly 2,000,000 gallons doused on the blaze. Officials expect repairs at sea and resumption of Saturday sailing. two men died and six were seriously injured in a benzine blast earlier.
Miss Gertrude Elston of Dorchester will leave Boston on Labor Day to marry Colonel Daniel A H Kolster in Los Angeles. The couple met when he asked her to decipher his autobiography and plans a September 10 ceremony at Holy Cross church. They will reside at 458 West Sixtieth Street in Los Angeles after a Catalina Island honeymoon.

Munice Ind to host next convention one year from now. A memorial service for deceased members was held with George W Penniman presiding.
The third Montwall trial session featured numerous witnesses testifying to cures attributed to divine aid through Mrs Etter and aids. Defense witnesses, led by Nash, described the healings as acts of God, not of Mrs Etter, with many speakers recounting personal recoveries from blindness and rheumatism.
