Centenary Observed for Saint Vincent de Paul Founder
The Metropolitan Central Council of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul marked the founder Frederick Ozanam’s centennial with a morning mass at Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Rev Thomas R McCoy led the service attended by about 250 council members, who later met for a breakfast and program including Dr John A Horgan. A Harvard memorial idea for Dr Thomas Dwight was discussed, and an evening program featured talks on Ozanam and the founder’s religious and literary contributions led by Dr Horgan and Rev Michael Scanlan.

Flies Across the Isthmus in Hydro-Aero Craft
Robert G. Fowler, the American aviator, made a flight across the Isthmus in a hydro-aero plane with a passenger. He started at Panama Beach at 9 45 a m circled Panama City and canal entrance then headed toward Colon. Strong winds and low clouds challenged him near Culebra Gatun and Cristobal where fuel supply failed causing a forced landing on a reef with a torn hole in the pontoon. otherwise the craft was undamaged.

Somerville Fire Kills Seven Horses Injures Three Firemen
A warehouse blaze in Somerville destroyed a stable housing seven horses and damaged a three story Everett street apartment building. Soldiers Lost Two Hours in Dense Fog
Two hundred soldiers aboard the government steamer Lieutenant Alfred T. Drew en route between Casco Bay forts were lost for two hours as a dense fog swallowed the vessel in Portland Maine. The steamer grounded on Cushing's Point near Fort Preble. boats from Fort McKinley rescued the crew and the ship was freed after daylight.
