Auto Driver Held in Manslaughter over Everett Child Death

In Everett yesterday two year old Helena Glennon died after being struck by a touring car driven by Joseph F. Donahue of Woburn. Donahue and companion Harry Holdridge were in the vehicle at the time. Donahue claimed the child darted into the left wheel. He was held at the Everett police station on a manslaughter charge and not bailed. The car owner is J. J. Lynch, manager of the Woburn Garage Company.

Unconfirmed late report says the gill netting steamer Bessie M. Dugan owned by T. A. Cromwell of Boston wrecked in fog off Boone Island last night. Crew of 12 saved.

Bessie Dugan Sinks After Hitting Isle Ledge Off Portsmouth

The vessel Bessie Dugan struck a ledge off Boone Island near Portsmouth harbor in dense fog and sank within minutes in 30 fathoms. Crew escaped into a nearby seine boat but could save nothing as the ship disappeared. the crew spent the night on the island eight miles offshore. Captain Forbes commanded full steam to back, the boat had just been remodeled and was uninsured. Efforts to verify the report were unavailable late tonight.

Rutland Derailment Injures Six on Mountain Flyer

Six people were badly hurt when the Mountain Flyer derailed near Beldens, Vermont, four miles north of Middlebury, at about 6 pm. A Pullman and several coaches derailed, the cause unknown. The most seriously hurt was Miss Clara Bunger of New York City. others include Co. 8 Bresley of Burlington, Charles M. Williams of New York, Mrs. George R. Henderson of Montclair, and Miss E. Derrick of St. Albans.

Burglary at Karl Orth Home Suspects Tied to Shooting

Police link second break in at Karl Orth's Brighton residence to a Thanksgiving shooting in his room. The 22 year old music teacher’s Lamark Road home was looted on both occasions but most other valuables remained. Detectives suspect a motive to injure him as the burglar left valuables untouched.

Firefighters Fall While Containing Blaze On Second Floor

As flames raged on the second floor and just before the all out warning, Captain Edward F. Trefren and Hosemen Albert A. McLaughlin and Edward White of Hose 5 fell to the first floor. They landed on bundled hay, sparing them more severe injuries. Trefren injured his ankle, McLaughlin suffered a deep cut on his right leg, and White injured his back.

Massive Fire Destroys Baltimore Block On Sharp Street

A large brick building between West and Osden streets in Baltimore was gutted by an early fire. The blaze caused about 200000 dollars in damage, splitting losses between George Esselman & Co. picture frames and moulding and the Chesapeake Manufacturing Co. furniture makers. Most stock and machinery were lost, with insurance covering the damage.
