$2,500,000 Deal In Hub Properties

A major real estate transaction in the city involves a valuation surpassing $2.5 million. The Filene's site will host two new buildings, an 11 story and a 10 story, under plans by Alonzo W. Perry and George A. Carpenter, marking one of the area's most extensive land deals.

Mr. Perry takes control of the Dexter and Tower buildings while planning a modern history edifice on the Dexter site to be finished by April 1914. Simon Vorenberg will remodel the Tower building to a 10 story, 125 foot structure expected to rival new constructions. Filene heirs lose the Copenhagen building to Mr. Carpenter who will replace with a 10 story modern office tower. Washington and Winter street corner also cleared for future development. Sutherland to be arraigned in wife murder case

James R. Sutherland, an ex convict, will be arraigned in Hingham Court after his wife Winnifred's mutilated body was found in the kitchen. Police say she was scalded cut and bruised hours before death and no help could identify the assailant when neighbors were summoned.

Mrs Sutherland died minutes after help arrived and her husband James Sutherland was arrested. Police say she was assaulted and beaten during the night and found unconscious by morning when her sister in law Isabella Moneghan appeared. District Attorney Barker said arraignment in Hingham Court will occur Tuesday morning. An autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

Stahl Aims to Trade for Hal Chase to Boston

Boston manager Stahl said he was seeking a trade to bring Hal Chase from the New York Americans to Boston. Treasurer McRoy left for Boston as Stahl announced the move in talks with Boston president McAleer. A NY club official reportedly would get a choice of a Boston catcher or other players if the deal proceeds.

Attempted Wreck On Boston & Maine Train Near Reading

Railroad officials report an attempt to wreck a Boston and Maine train on the Portland division between Reading and Wakefield. A caller warned of ties on the inward bound track and inspectors found a heavy log on each rail. A local passenger train was due shortly after. Three similar alleged attempts have occurred in the same area in recent years.

Milford April 2. Joseph M. Coldwell of Worcester, head of the striking foundrymen at the Draper Company plant in Hopedale, was found guilty today of delivering inflammatory speeches and violating Hopedale town ordinances.

Strong New York quake shocks Ogdensburg and surrounding towns

A powerful earthquake struck Ogdensburg New York at about 7 80 pm lasting nearly half a minute causing buildings to shake people to flood the streets. Frightful tremors were also reported in Watertown Potsdam Gouverneur and Can ton with windows rattled but no damage reported. A high wind and storm accompanied the St Lawrence Valley event.
