Pratt heirs seek new trial in will contest over $750000 bequest

Mrs. Juliette Smith aged 70, wife of W French Smith president of the Mexican Telephone and Telegraph Company, died of pneumonia at her home 126 Summer Street Somerville after a five day illness. She was born in Somerville.

Jury overturns will of Oliver H. Jones in undue influence ruling

A Suffolk County Supreme Court jury ruled Oliver H. Jones was unduly influenced by Fred W. Bartlett and Eva Bartlett of Dorchester, stripping Luther B. Jones of any share and leaving the Bartletts as chief beneficiaries. The 21 year old son died months after making a will disposing of about 5000 dollars. The decision transfers the estate to his father.

Four Men Die in Ammonia Boiler Explosion at Moore Ice Works

In Pensacola on April 10 four men were killed when an ammonia boiler exploded at Moore Ice Works, partially wrecking the plant. Firemen entering the wrecked building were overcome by fumes as the blast shattered windows up to six blocks away and startled residents five miles distant. Among the deceased were engineers W. H. Vancel and C. J. Ployd. the boiler held nearly 2000 gallons of ammonia.

Woman chases burglar to street after home assault

Mrs Lucy Luciano was struck in the face then pursued a burglar from her Corning street home into the South End street. Patrolman Trainer assisted near Shawmut avenue and Castle street. The arrestee identified as James J Gray received a two month sentence to the House of Correction by Judge Parmenter.
