The body of J Pierpont Morgan lies in his private library among art treasures after arriving on the France. In heavy rain hundreds stand in the streets as the coffin is moved to the library and the body remains on view until Monday morning before a funeral at St George's Church.
The France docked in rain at West Fifteenth Street as a funeral cortege escorted the body of financier J. P. Morgan from quarantine to a mortuary chapel. Family members, officials, and crew attended while guards bore the casket draped in an American flag and the ship’s band played The Star Spangled Banner.
Washington April 11 The Democratic caucus moved shoe machinery from a 45 percent duty to the free list marking the first real break from Ways and Means rates. An amendment by Rep Palmer of Pennsylvania allowed lead with under 3 percent zinc to enter free of duty for its zinc content. After three days of speeches amendments were voted down with majorities for leadership.
Missouri Representative Borland steers a viva voce vote on the shoe machinery amendment after a lively session in which New York’s Representative Ogelsby criticizes the United Shoe Machinery trust. Thomas J. Boynton, Boston attorney and former Everett mayor, is mentioned as successor to James F. Curtis as assistant secretary of the treasury. Andrew J. Peters urged Curtis retainment, but Secretary McAdoo's latest announcement suggests Curtis may depart. Boynton, a lifelong Democrat, is urged as fit for the post.

They refused the bonus terms, accepted other proposals under protest, and sent the latter to the joint grievance committee for settlement. It is believed there is no danger of a strike.
Meetings at Wells Memorial building early today yielded over 1800 voice votes with a clear majority against the company bonus. The arbitration report split on the adjustment committee but agreed to establish it. the bonus portion was rejected.
Secretary Daniels told a Navy League banquet in Washington that a victorious navy rests on public demand. He urged teaching Americans that the navy is theirs and that leaders serve their wishes and interests to ensure any expansion is lasting.
At a banquet a line-up including Vice-President Marshall and Admiral Dewey stressed Navy integration with the nation. Speakers urged a public connection with naval strength and future potential while a resolution authorized a cablegram to the Chinese government celebrating its joining the republics.
