Workers including linemen splicers installers and others accept terms of agreement at mass meetings ending the threat of a strike. Operators and company representatives report a calmer mood and business leaders express relief over the peaceful settlement and reduced tension.
Reverend W B Ayers of Park and Downs Congregational Church Wollaston weeps while recounting the death of his third wife and his early marriages during the trial of a suit alleging alienation of Mrs Chester A Boynton's affections. He also describes starting a stage career to fund his education for the ministry.
Attorney Eldridge R. Anderson representing Mr Ayers filed a rapid action with no prior warning at noon yesterday. The court session followed a surprise strategic step by the defense team in the Ayers case.

Hilda Promenom ten year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Promenorm of Hillside street West Quincy remained on the dangerous list at Quincy City Hospital after a scalding incident at home. The accident happened shortly after noon when a boiling water pan slipped from her hands during dish washing. Neighbors and older helpers assisted before she was taken to the hospital by John T. Reynolds.
The Chamber of Commerce and state officials praised leaders including James J. Storrow and Mayor Fitzgerald for ending the dispute. Temporary operators from other cities left while locals vote on the settlement in three Wells Memorial Building meetings today at 10 am 2 pm and 8 pm. The Boston Chamber statement commends the telephone operators and New England Telephone & Telegraph Company for patience fairness and public service.
On April 10 a Milford Hopkinton line trolley was halted by four armed men who fired many shots through a wooded area near Wood's Corner. One man was wounded and about 50 passengers panicked as the car continued to Milford.
George H. Davis, 46, an auditor for the Draper Company in Hopedale, was shot in the hip as gunmen opened fire on a Milford trolley returning from Draper factories. Conductor Albert Deland and about 50 passengers narrowly escaped as bullets shattered windows. Police inspect possible links to a strike at Draper shops while Gran ite Cutters Union mass meeting is blocked at Town Hall. About 35 Milford iron works workers were discharged and 60 walked out amid rising labor tensions.
Rome reports at 10:30 p m that the Pope's condition is much improved with normal temperature and the acute crisis believed over though weakness remains. Doctors feed champagne with milk to lift mood and administer opiates.
