George P. Hamlin sues Ida M. Holden for five wrongful occupancy claims tied to the Gloucester Beacon Street mansion known as the haunted house. The suits cover Nov 1, 1912, to April 30 of the current year, with Hamlin acting for himself his wife and three children.
Under the lease Mr Hamlin paid 1850 for six months possession and 1283.33 by Jan 23 when the family vacated. He says illness in his family caused the move not fear of spooks. James Hanley 34 a vagrant died by suicide in his Charles Street jail cell on March 31. Two South Boston youths Walter Moore and Walter Devlin were arrested at Montello railroad station in Brockton after a robbery attempt on a freight conductor. The loom of two masked assailants ended with the conductor escaping into the station and the suspects detained while about to board a train to Boston. A revolver was found on one of the arrestees.
