Bessemer Common Council approves 1967-68 budget and tax levy

The June 5 1967 Common Council meeting in Bessemer saw adoption of the 1967-68 Tax Appropriation Budget totaling 98 054 28 with funds allocated to Street Light Garbage Police Fire Cemetery Building System and Retirement. Ordinance No 227 was passed raising the levied amounts and public hearing completed with no objections.

Erickson Ringsmuth wedding in double ring ceremony

A double ring ceremony at 5 30 p m united Miss Erickson and Mr Ringmuth. Rev Roland Dion officiated. The bride wore silk peau de soie Empire style with lace, a three tier nylon veil, seed pearl and orange blossom crown, and a pewter bouquet. Attendants included matron of honor Mrs Charles Gass of Ramsey. Best man Joseph Kingsmuth Jr. and ushers Gordon Erickson and Jack Ringsmuth. About 250 guests attended a 7 9 p m reception at VFW clubrooms in Wakefield and the couple plans a resort area wedding trip. The bride, a 1962 A D Johnston graduate, worked as department treasurer in Bessemer. the groom, a 1960 Wakefield High and 1965 Northland College graduate, is an art instructor in L Anse. They will reside in Hancock for his park ranger job. Relatives traveled from Ramsey, Chicago, Milwaukee, Hartford, Weaver, St Louis, Detroit, L Anse, Ontonagon and surrounding areas.
