School Elections to Be Held Monday in City and Township
The annual school elections occur Monday June 12 with City voters choosing two trustees and Bessemer Township voters electing one. City candidates include Ro bert Hellman seeking re election and Seraphine Lars Fiori and William Bill Maki for the board. Township candidates are Joseph E Janov John A Mussatti and Mary Vilencia plus shared Community College and Intermediate School District ballots. Poll hours are 7 am to 8 pm EST.

Hjalmer Ogren Dies in Ewen at 71
Hjalmer Ogren of Ewen, 71, died unexpectedly while at work as custodian at the Ewen State Bank. Born in Bessemer April 28 1896 he moved to Ewen in 1915 and was a WWI veteran and DAV member. He married Lempi Niemi in 1931 and leaves a wife a daughter a son two sisters two brothers and seven grandchildren. Funeral held at Ewen Funeral Home with burial in Ewen Cemetery.
