Dorman Defends Up State Economic Role Against Critic
Ken Dorman secretary manager of the Upper Peninsula Tourist Association responds to a Lapeer County Press article. He argues U P wealth and influence shaped Detroit and national industry, cites copper iron ore and the Soo Canal, and asserts the U P could be a powerful separate state or country. He cites 1964 to 1957 tourist gains and traffic data from Mackinac Bridge records to support a growing tourism economy. He names Governor Knowles, Wisconsin relations, and the impact of U P mineral resources on national industry.
