Plans Progress For New Bijur Plant
Plans for a new Bijur Lubricating Corp plant were disclosed at a town meeting. Thomas F. Rogers said the company is negotiating to buy land at the Nate Smith farm near Park Street Extension and Lovers Lane for a 50,000 to 60,000 square foot one story facility with off street parking. Public water main extension was discussed and linked to a potential town water project bond issue to ensure water access for the plant.

Junkyard License Approved After Tie Vote by Board Chair
Junkyard approval came when chair Joseph Higgins cast the deciding vote in favor. J Fred Wohnus urged action under state junkyard law on two junked-car accumulations, one on Murphy Road and another beside Johnson Oil Co. on Hunt Street. Wohnus complained about dust control on Murphy Road as Road Commissioner James Cross said chloride work is underway on dirt roads. The board tabbed a 49-signature Chapel Road blacktop petition for later consideration as the highway program is fixed.
