Zoning Hearing Weighs Dormitory Plan for St Joseph College
Old Bennington hears St Joseph College seek to use the Lawrence Becerra house on Catamount Lane as a dormitory for 12 to 16 nonresident women students and two resident sisters. The board considers the impact on Old Bennington’s character and tax questions, with debate over voluntary payments in lieu of taxes and future expansions. Residents fear changes to the village fabric, while college reps underline historical ties and supervision by sisters.
