Bath Landmark House Narrowly Survived Until Now
One of Bath’s old landmarks, the former George H. W. Barton house on Front Street opposite the Park, is being torn down. The building served as Watson Frye Co storehouse and later storage and office space for Cornerbrook Foundry & Machine Co. It was altered from two and a half stories to one, with a roof changed to a slanting design. A solid inner brick wall shows old insulation ideas. A new building may rise on the lot, though plans are not definite.
