Exchange opens new market for potato trading
The New York Produce Exchange announces a new potato futures market for 30,000 pound contracts in US No 1 grade, with delivery in a cold storage warehouse in New York port. Trading spans the current month and next eleven months, with price units of per 100 pounds and daily limits of 50 cents up or down. Commission scales apply to round-turn trades. A USDA crop report foresees a bumper 383 million bushels, aided by late frost protection and record state yields, potentially increasing livestock feeding demand for lower grades.
