Youth Confesses in Oakhurst Dairy Breaks Prefers State Prison
Charles Radley Jr told Judge Keegan he would rather go to Thomaston State Prison than South Windham Reformatory as he admitted his role in three recent breaks at Oakhurst Dairy Central Grammar and Weeks Street schoolhouse. Radley and ally Raymond Barter faced heavy bond hurdles with Radley $11,000 and Barter $6,000, while Edmund Robinson posted $2,000 sureties for June Sagadahoc Superior court. South Windham officials planned to return Radley to the reform school, though authorities doubt acceptance due to his bonds. he may await June term in Auburn jail with Barter.
