OU Officials Debate unfunded mandate audits for universities
Ohio University officials, including President Roderick McDavis, discussed a Senate bill to grant the State Auditor four performance audits on two and four year universities every two years, with costs borne by the universities. OU projects a $400 000 to $600 000 impact, prompting calls for reciprocal state reward for positive audits and concerns about delays to projects like East State Street and University Courtyard bids. The board also reviewed House Bill 48 expanding concealed carry to campuses, noting boards could adopt policies to permit handgun carry or face potential minor penalties if no policy is adopted.
