Commissioners Sued Over Pike Repair Contract

A lawsuit was filed in the Common Pleas Court by S Hadley Hibbard against Jan Wu Biddle Joseph Wolf S B Hill and the Athens county Board of Turnpike Directors and others seeking a temporary restraining order and a permanent injunction to halt payment or further contracts for road repair near Guysville. The petition accuses the defendants of approving a 1907 contract with Downey and Angell for lime gravel and sand stone work without allowing proper plans specifications or cost estimates, risking about $2000 in county funds.
