Kim Spencer Athens County's veterans services officer received the William Boettcher Award for 2015 16 from AMVETS Post 53 at the Ohio State Association of County Veterans Services Officers meeting in Columbus. Tom Smith praised her as a top notch employee while the commission lauded her dedication to veterans. Spencer began as an investigator before becoming officer in 2014 and served in the Army three and a half years.

Park to honor 2012 Chardon High victims rises with $400k
The Chardon Living Memorial Park project aims to raise 400000 for a 17 acre site to honor the three students killed and several injured in the 2012 Chardon High School shooting on February 27 2012. Donations include 20000 from University Hospitals 25000 from the Cleveland Foundation and 30000 from the Chardon Rotary. Construction could begin mid September with plans for plaques a 10 foot statue and a renovated trail and pavilion completing a community memorial. TJ Lane pleaded guilty to the attack.

Missing Ohio baby girl found dead near river
In Loveland Ohio authorities found 4 month old Kaylynn Crawford dead along a riverbank. Her father Charles Crawford is charged with murder and jailed in Clermont County. Police believe his missing child report was false. An autopsy is pending as investigators from Loveland police the FBI and the Ohio BCI assisted.
