Jail space crunch for women strains Athens County law enforcement
Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith discussed bed space shortages at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville and the impact on transporting female prisoners to facilities in Ross Gallia Middleport and beyond. Local cases cited include two Plains arrests where one prisoner went to Middleport and the other was released to appear in court next morning.
