On a Tammany Day celebration Hon W D Bynum spoke with focus while Congressman Crisp of Georgia followed with a lengthy attack on Republican controls in the House. He cited a forged majority, contested Democratic seats, and the Lodge and returning-board schemes. He warned of bayonets and urged Hill’s defense of the South, prompting cheers and signaling possible 1876 echoes. A separate reader note offers a supposed remedy for female weakness from Dr B Marchisi with an address in Utica.
