Boss Buck's Dilemma and Georgia GOP Rift
The Georgia Republican sub committee met in the federal courthouse and decided not to call a state convention to nominate a state ticket. Boss A. E. Buck led the thirteen member panel, most of them African American, who criticized Democratic election practices and urged a Republican Congressional ticket in each district. The group expected few conventions, save perhaps for Colonel S. A. Darnell in the Ninth. They also urged action on the federal election bill and condemned some southern Republicans who allied with Democrats. The piece ends with local ads for King’s New Discovery and Bucklen’s products.

Central railroad system expands to be among South's finest
General Manager Gabbett of the Central railroad outlines a major expansion plan. New orders include two sleepers, thirty-one first class coaches, 100 coal cars and 50 stock cars, with fifty-three locomotives awaited. Investments exceed 1,000,000 dollars, boosting Savannah terminal capacities, naval store shipments, lumber wharf length, and cotton warehousing. Watermelon shipments rise with specialized steamer compartments, moving over 2,000 cars this season on the Southwestern division. Albany melons peak at 210 cars in a single day, the largest ever for the road.
