Sudan Co op Forming Peru Panhandle Seed Growers Drive
Fred W Mangelsdorf of Atchison Kansas leads a move to form a cooperative marketing group under the federal farm board act for Sudan grass seed growers in the Panhandle. He says 90 percent of US Sudan seed acreage lies in a triangle around Lubbock Clovis and Amarillo. Crop forecasts rise to 30 million pounds with 6 million carried over, glooming price prospects around 1 50 per bushel, far below the ten year average of 4 80 per hundred. The plan seeks government loans to stabilize the market and save the Panhandle up to a million dollars.
