Railroad Rounds and Rumblings by John Moore
A vivid look at railroad salesmanship and customer service across ticket windows, freight desks, and trains. The piece highlights go-getters against pencil eaters, stressing how courteous conduct and proactive promotion drive follow-up business for Santa Fe employees and the railroad as a whole. It also lists multiple staff movements and social events at Amarillo and Waynoka, with notes on vacations, transfers, and a scheduled fuel conservation meeting.
Railroad clerks and staff changes noted in Santa Fe bulletin
The Santa Fe bulletin reports various staff shifts including L. H. Borger requesting 30 days off from Borger starting August 25, and William B. Futral moving from car distributor at Fort Worth to traveling freight agent with Amarillo headquarters. It highlights Ray Work as a prolific railroad chief clerk and writer, Grady Stegall’s return to Night Yard Master at Waynoka after abolition of the Pampa General Yard Master post, and corrects an earlier error about Teddy Kellar’s employment status.
