Marathon Ladies Take Panhandle Visit

Mrs. Sam Nelson and Mrs. Waller Diggs traveled to the Panhandle with Mrs. Nelson visiting Amarillo relatives and Mrs. Diggs visiting Lubbock. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Skevington of Bartow are the parents of a son born last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Skevington drove over last weekend to meet their new grandson.

Local visits by Dallas couples and Texas trip

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor of Dallas spent last week visiting Mrs. Taylor's sister Mrs. A. R. Stambaugh and Mr. Stambaugh here. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Attwood left last weekend on a trip to Santa Fe and Albuquerque New Mexico and to Kansas to visit relatives. They expect to be away three or four weeks.

Fort Davis Residents Outline Soil Conservation Meeting

Fort Davis and Barry Scobee precinct conventions were called by county commissioners under a Governor O’Daniel proclamation to form plans with the State Soil Conservation Board. Delegates will be chosen May 15 at the county courthouse to attend District No. 2 in Fort Stockton the following Monday. Reports included club officers, a book review, and updates from the Eighth District Women’s Clubs.

State to take 25 miles of Valentine road for park highway

The highway commission seeks a 120 foot right of way to convert the Fort Davis to Kelly ranch road into a state road inside Davis Mountains State Park. The present route will be used with a zero foot easement until landowner permission for extra space is obtained.

Absent Minded Professor Cast Ladies and Local Talent

Orphaned sisters played by Alice Sproul and Elizabeth Fowlkes chase the absent minded professor in a staged comedy. Between acts feature a rhythm band directed by Miss Dorothy Clark, songs by grades five through seven, and a playlet The First Mirror by Margie Everett, Janie Luedecke, Richard Beall and Buddy Fairchild. A sizable audience gathered Tuesday night in the Sul Ross school auditorium to hear the Glee Club directed by Miss Irma Lee Batey.
