A. E. Polk, a Sierra Blanca abstr actor, died in an El Paso hospital last Sunday after a period of ill health. He and his family were known to Alpine residents. survivors include his widow and two daughters Miss Jean Polk of San Antonio and Mrs. John Hubbard formerly Miss Lottie Polk of El Paso.

Lightning Sparks Fire at Fulmer Home Alpine
A thunderstorm in Alpine produced two lightning strikes, one hitting the vent pipe of Rev. M. M. Fulmer and igniting a wall behind a cabinet, extinguished with little damage by volunteers. Another bolt struck Sul Ross gymnasium, dislodging trim stone and bricks.
