Presidio County Stock Show Highlights Marfa Event

Reports from the Presidio County Stock Show in Marfa highlight champion and reserve winners in stock judging. Doris Doyle's fine wool lamb won, James Nicks claimed reserve, and Margaret Ann Gearhart took grand champion registered Hereford bull calf with Bailey Wheeless as reserve. Longhorn steers on display drew chatter from Cap Yates and Johnny Adams as attendees, with Dr. W W Gentry making the lucky weight guess.

Big Bend Park Gains New District Ranger

Mr and Mrs Wendell Bryce and daughter Karen arrived Saturday from Bryce Canyon Utah to take over as Persimmon Gap district ranger filling the vacancy left by Roger R Miller. George Miller spoke on Big Bend and Mission 66 to Pecos Lions Club and attended Fort Stockton Chamber meeting. Hobnobbing actually means touching glasses together when drinking.

Students Take Exams in Alpine Schools This Week

Mid term examinations were held in Alpine Schools this week. Report cards will be distributed Friday, Jan. 25.

Sealed proposals for constructing 198 782 miles of local coat from Fabens to Hudspeth and other segments in El Paso, Hudspeth, Culberson, Jeff Davis, Presidio and Brewster Counties will be received in Austin until 9 00 a m January 23 1957 and opened publicly. Plans available through Chas T Holmes Alpine Resident Engineer. Wage rates for local craft are specified under House Bills 54 and 115. Usual rights reserved.
