On Thursday evening, June 8, at 8:30 at the High School building, Prof. N. A. Bengston will give an illustrated lecture titled Development of Nebraska detailing regional geography and growth.

Flag Day Designated in Alliance This Week

Governor Aldrich issued a proclamation naming Wednesday June 14 as Flag Day and urging display of Old Glory on public buildings. Mayor Harris asks observance in Alliance with decorations on homes and businesses to show patriotism.

End of a Noble Life in Alliance Community

Mrs. L. J. Lore dies at home near Alliance on June 1 1911 after a life of Christian service. Born Luella Ida Dunlap January 1 1860 in Illinois, she married John Lore in 1877 and had seven children. Survived by husband, four sons, two daughters, seven sisters and two brothers. Funeral at Unity church with Rev. J. L. B. Jones leading, many attendees.

County Board of Equalization Set for June 13 Session

The county commissioners will convene as a board of equalization on Tuesday next week June 13 and stay at least three days but not more than twenty. The Herald aims to publish public information on local tax dodging unless improvements occur. Readers are reminded to mention seeing the notice.

The Alliance State Junior Normal begins this week under Supt W R Pate and County Supt Della M Reed with good attendance and a strong faculty. Officials praise community support and print the revised program in The Herald as preparations for a Junior Normal department continue.

Death of Redmond Hand in Alliance Community

Redmond Hand died last evening at his brother Dr Geo J Hand’s residence from cancer. He lived in Hay Springs but had been in Alliance for weeks. He leaves three orphan children. Remains shipped to Hay Springs for interment under the I O O F, of which he was a member. The Herald extends sympathy to bereaved relatives. Attention Odd Fellows and Rebeccas.
