Fourth of July Program With Parades Races and Balloon Ascension

A detailed Fourth of July program lists early events including a band concert at 9 00, a grand parade featuring cowboys and 600 school children, and numerous prizes for best cowboys and cowgirls outfits. Men's Meeting Open to All at Methodist Church

A cordial invitation invites all men to an interdenominational meeting at the Methodist church corner Fourth street and Niobrara avenue at 8 p m next Sunday. J W Bicknell reports his parents Mr and Mrs R Bicknell have returned to Pleasanton Iowa for health reasons and are pleased with the old home scenery and fruit prospects. Memorial Day Observance and Veteran Roster at Alliance

Decoration Day ceremonies in Alliance featured Reverend McNeill and Father McNamara, a salute by the Spanish War Veterans with colors, and songs led by Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Laing. Hon. John B. Strasburger gave an acclaimed address, followed by a long parade to Greenwood cemetery and a tribute to James E. Benedict. A detailed roster lists Civil War and Spanish War veterans present, including Amos Aspey and J. Riordan among many others from multiple states and units.

Death Notices: Long life remembered in O’Neill memorial

Last Saturday M Vaughn of Alliance received a telegram from O’Neill Nebraska announcing the death of his mother at the age of ninety after four years illness. A son and two daughters survive Mrs Vaughn Hughes and Mrs Campbell with funeral at the Catholic church in O’Neill. The family notes she lived uprightly and kindly and will be missed by those who knew her.

Lieutenant Danos Visits Alliance on Leave

Lieut. Henry J. Danos of Company C, 22d A. 8. Infantry, husband of Red Cross nurse Frances Danos, arrived in Alliance for a few days furlough from Fort San Houston San Antonio Texas. He will remain through next week.

Aging Immigrant Frank Bauer Sr. Dies at 82 in Alliance

Frank Bauer Sr. born in Wurtemberg Germany on June 27 1828 died May 26 1911 at age 82 10 28 after a long life in coal mines Kentucky Indiana and Alliance He married Nancy Hill Sept 25 1852 in Housville and leaves twelve children thirty four grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren Funeral services were held at St Matthew's Episcopal Church Alliance with interment at Greenwood cemetery Attendants praised Bauer's industry integrity and honorable life The obituary features his widow and family photos

Riordan Haggerty Nuptials in Alliance Chapel

The marriage of John J. Riordan and Margarite Haggerty was solemnized at St. Agnes chapel with Rev. Father McNamara officiating. The ceremony featured a floral display, religious decor, and a high mass sung by sisters of St. Agnes academy. The couple, praised locally, planned a honeymoon in Denver before returning to Alliance where Riordan runs a business.
