Beckman Reports On Bus Tragedy At Georgetown
W K Beckman state highway department maintenance engineer released findings on the Georgetown bus tragedy that drowned 23 people last Monday. He attributes the cause to possible driver inattention to warning and stop signs or defective brakes and notes warning signs 800 feet away and a bridge sign 400 feet from the structure. Gates on the road prevented entry into the Sampit River and were deemed adequate protection.
