Flying Sergeant flies no more as Flight Officer rises
VANK reports the RAFs Flying Sergeant era ends as Congress and War Department create Flight Officers. Maj Gen Ralph Royce explains the plan to train over 100,000 pilots next year while maintaining RAF standards. Cadets and enlisted men completing courses may now become Second Lieutenants or Flight Officers with added flying pay.
