School land sold at historic bid in Kennewick area
Last Saturday bidding at the court house drove a section of school land under the new Kennewick ditch to a record price. Section 16 township 8 north range 30 sold for 10 800 total with three quarters at 16 50 per acre and the rest at 18. Purchaser was J W Johnson of Oakesdale acting for R Fullerton P H Johnson and E J Johnson of the same town. Other bidders included O A Fechter and George L Allen of this place C Braithwait of Kennewick A D Boardman of Tacoma and C F Owens deputy state mining inspector.

Millinery Openings Draw Big Crowds in North Yakima
The 1902 opening season for North Yakima milliners drew crowds at Rinehart’s 219 Yakima avenue and Mrs. Cary’s on North Second street. Visitors received souvenirs and Easter eggs while music accompanied displays. The H H Schott Company and The Leader also reported strong attendance and stylish hats attracting praise.

Cadets Benefit Fund From Theatre Presentation Promised Belts
