An express office safe was robbed of 263 in gold coin from a sack in transit on the 2:30 a.m. Roslyn to Yakima Mill ing Co. shipment. The money, placed in the safe, disappeared by daylight. Superintendent Gilbert conducts the investigation with details kept quiet until Sunday.
Nob Hill figure D. E. Lesh suffered a serious fall Sunday afternoon when stairs in an old Tampico hop house collapsed. He broke the right arm above the elbow and fractured the left leg below the knee, with head and body bruises. Casts were applied and he rests at home.
Lee Richmond of Yakima City broke his left ankle last Saturday while jumping from a load of baled hay in town. Dr. Fletcher reduced the fracture.
George Wright reports a rich find from the Jimbo placer mine on Williams creek forty miles northwest of Ellensburg. Nuggets worth 156 dollars in a haul nearing 300 dollars total were taken last Friday, sparking regionwide talk of the discovery.
Mrs Elwood president of the State Federation of Women's clubs arrived Monday and stayed with Mrs Bb F Barge on Sixth street. A reception at Mr and Mrs Alex Miller’s home Monday night by the Twentieth Century club honored her visit with about 150 guests. The club hosted an afternoon event at Yakima hotel parlors.
The event hosted 53 guests with Mrs. Elwood speaking on Is It Worth While, outlining women’s club principles. Four young girls led by Miss Margery Morgan presided at the punch bowl, with Margery Krutz and Edna Walker assisting. decorations matched crimson and red as Mrs. Elwood heads to Ellensburg tomorrow.
Three men entered Tahoma cemetery after Jung Say’s burial and robbed a Chinaman’s grave of a dagger a larger knife a pipe tobacco chinaware and other items. Sexton Carvasso pursued the thieves recovered some items and the cemetery committee plans to sue the culprits.
Samuel Cameron reports that Superintendent Sheller has placed the reserve sheep allotment under the Wool Growers association. The association will determine each sheepman's grazing entitlement and must include only members in good standing on the reserve.
A pleasant whist party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Carlson at 16 North Ahtanum Avenue last Saturday evening. Four prizes were awarded with Miss Isabelle Bivens taking first and George Stice second. Mr. and Mrs. E W Smith claimed first and second booby prizes. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Mechtel, Mr. and Mrs. Stice, Mr. and Mrs. Curry, Mrs Wilgus, Mrs Mabery, Mrs Churchill, Miss Buckholtz, Miss Bivens, Miss Hulse, Miss Carlsrud, Joseph and John Hulse, Wallace Stice, Floyd Smith, and Mr. Hanke.

Church notes describe a lively sock social for youths in the Tucker building on North Front street with games music and light refreshments. Yakima Junior Orchestra provided the music and various religious events and lectures are announced for March including Mrs Natalie Gordon’s Christian Citizenship talk and a municipal affairs sermon for taxpayers.
