Miss Martha Criley sang, Miss Nellie Brown recited, and Mrs Bethel spoke urging women’s suffrage, with light refreshments concluding the evening.
Massillon Ohio May reports Miners in Krause mines voted to work for two cents above base until state price is fixed. One hundred miners struck at Lake View and at Mineral Point, while 2,000 at Silver Creek and Wadsworth still work awaiting orders. They are earning 60 cents union wages and vow to continue if possible.

Franklin Haag died by his own action after extended illness. The 70 year old farmer lived near Mount Eaton and owned property in Maysville. His wife found him suspended from a rope in his home with doors locked and windows barred. The act followed years of palsy and nervous trouble and a belief he was an object of ridicule. The Klein family attended the funeral today.
Great interest attaches to the murder of Mrs Savannah Dugan in Fort Wayne. William Neuman stands charged. Lizzie Dugan testified she saw Neuman enter late and carry something heavy. A second postmortem confirmed neck dislocation and possible fatal blow, defense arguing it may have occurred after death through a fall.
Orlando Volkmer, an attorney, appointed receiver of Shively & Fociedte steam sundry in Masail lon. The business began in January by Lafayette Shively and A. E. Thompson of Wooster. Eugene Thompson filed the petition. defendants named are Howard Lucas and Shively. Thompson says Shively sold his interest to Lucas without consent and Lucas refuses to operate unless Thompson agrees to sell or buy the laundry. Thompson also claims insolvency of the firm and partners.
After 28 hours of deliberation in the John Hashrefler case, jurors were discharged by Judge Dowell with no verdict. Proceedings noted a long audience, extended arguments, and anticipation of a retry in the August term, while Schreffler may receive bail.
Ashland Times reports Elmira Moris vn Lewis Chesrown et al on trial in Circuit Court with Judges Pomerene Jenner and Adams. Mrs Morris and Mrs Chesrown seek $4000 each from Lewis Chesrown Sr.’s will. Chesrown Jr. allegedly sold estate to pay debts. most property went to defense costs for murder. Many witnesses examined. decision pending.

Mrs Patrick Brandon reported being severely beaten by her husband Patrick Brandon who then locked her in a room and threatened to kill her. Brandon was caught by Marshal Ellsperman and Officer Leiner, pleaded guilty to assault and battery before Mayor Jeffries, and was bound over to Probate Court in $200. he could not raise the bail and remained jailed. John Brandon, charged with chasing his father with a chair, pleaded guilty but was held to Probate Court as the assault charge lacked a formal complaint. Both men face further court action and possible workhouse time.
