Burbank man arraigned for horse stealing in Canaan
Prous Monday 4 Daisy Marshal A Wttart of Bur bank judged Robert Fetters of Canaan township in jail on a horse stealing charge. Fetters stole a carriage and buggy from John Oller of Canaan Centre Saturday night, was pursued and fired upon but refused to stop. He abandoned the rig, which Oller secured. Fetters was arrested Sunday morning three miles north of Canaan and held for court after a hearing before Mayor M I Dodd of Murbang who bound him over.

Suit Ends Fast in Breach of Promise Case
Malinda Franks v Stoll resulted in a verdict for the plaintiff. The jury awarded $500 after Franks testified and letters from Stoll were read. Franks has since married Carl Sturges of Argle Creek. Ludwig v Bloch was postponed due to the plaintiff’s illness. jurors released until Tuesday morning.

Twin four year olds near death in West Salem fire
Clare Kerstetter's twin four year old boys escaped death and their dwelling from destruction when, while their mother shopped, the boys reached matches and started a fire. Mrs. Kerstetter and neighbors freed them after a closed door delayed rescue. Firemen quickly extinguished the blaze. total loss, water damage, and exterior damage estimated around 340.
