Attempted Hold Up Near Larwill and Grant Streets

A Wednesday night alarm at 9 o clock near Larwill and Grant streets drew citizens and police to a puzzling scene. A man fled toward Grant street after cries of murder and police, while two witnesses saw another man approach the Presbyterian church alter. A panting man claimed innocence when questioned. The next morning a colored man found in a park grass indicates he triggered the call while he searched for a lost cash item thrown over a fence during an attempted robbery. He reported being pursued by two white men who robbed him and fled in opposite directions.
