News from Smithville July 25 notes warm weather forecasts and a busy chautauqua period. Local figures like J M Saunders Edwin Sanders Almond Sander and A Kremer Jr visit from Akron and Wadsworth. Community events include baptisms and church activities while many residents travel or host guests. Mrs Jacob Farner of the Wooster area drove a Surrey pulled by two horses that bolted near Ephriam Lehman’s home in Bloomington before noon Monday. They dashed into Bever Street, crashed into a hitching post, scattering scoppants. Farner suffered bad bruising and was admitted to Dr Kinney’s hospital. Her two daughters were unhurt and Farner’s injuries were not serious. The horses were later taken to Dr W F Derr’s barn and were badly cut up.
A Wooster notice invites public Sabbath entertainment on August 6 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon to support missions with Dr. Lehman and wife of Ashland and Mr Glenn and wife of Jeromeville attending. Overton July 26 A typhoid death shocks the town Mrs Lanetta Wagner of Lodi aged 24 wife of Frank Wagner and mother of two left a large family and friends at her funeral in Overton. Also a bolt of lightning burned Jim Walton's barn killing the horse Charley and sparking a small scare before a mouse burglar was captured and escaped in Overton.
