Evergreen Water District cancels elections for lack of challengers
The Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District board canceled the January 20 election in four counties after four incumbents drew no challengers. Auditor Fred Timmons praised the district’s strong finances with $373,850 cash and $436,151 assets, while noting loans are current. A hydrologist recruited to model aquifers left for another job, prompting a Texas A&M search for a replacement.
