James J. Hill argues that fear and lack of confidence paralyze U S business amid a national conservation congress. He calls for restoring common sense, warns against hasty reforms, and says capital requires stability yet elastic adaptation. The North Dakota Educational association to hold its first fall meeting in Bismarck October 16 to 21. It will be the largest educator gathering yet in the state with Western growth praised and local committee members noted for hosting. Chapter 98 allows salary protection for attending teachers, boosting anticipated turnout.
Dairy Commissioner R F Flint describes strong interest in the North Dakota display at Des Moines Grinnell and Marshalltown fairs. He notes visitors’ curiosity about state size conditions and opportunities and cites meetings with J B Taylor and N J Hendrickson. Dr Chappell and others praised the state’s enterprise and hustler spirit.
New physician Dr. Ralf Meidell of Chicago will locate in Williston to practice diseases of the eye ear nose and throat. He completed a year and a half of postgraduate study in Berlin and Chicago and is a graduate of the University of Christiania in Norway. He has formed a partnership with Dr. Myklestad in this city.
The Missouri River lumber yard won the contractor bid as the supply chain for the project. Officials cited the firm’s record, capacity, and timely delivery as key factors in the selection. The award signals ongoing activity in regional construction and wood products markets.
At a Poplar Montana council in March 1910 Sioux leaders weighed adopting residents for land allotments. Dick Wilson a Black individual and several whites living with Indians were discussed. Dan Mitchell sought to have his Cree wife adopted but was refused. Campaigns and party support also featured in postmeeting talks.
In Grand Forks on September 16 the Republican state executive committee held two sessions to plan the fall campaign for the state ticket. Capt. Frank Henry of Valley City was chosen as assistant secretary and Otto C. Strom of Lakota as secretary, signaling a shift to a new group running the campaign.
Members will hold a Monday night meeting at the M E church at eight o'clock to vote on a site for the chapter house. Attendance is urged to allow each member to express views on the best location for the building.
The Palace Cafe management opened their new rooming houses on Tuesday. The rooms are steam heated and modern and will doubtless be in great demand.
The city will establish free mail delivery on October first with two daily deliveries and possibly three in the business district. Citizens must prepare mailboxes. Harold Disney and Richard C. Ike were selected as carriers, with Anthony F. Kulas as substitute after recent exams.

He has twenty years in lecturing, traveled widely in England Scotland Sweden and across the United States. He has visited Europe nine times and traveled Africa and Mexico with thousands of friends noting his extensive knowledge and observant nature. A new lignite gas and fuel research station, branch of the University of North Dakota School of Mines, begins operations in Hebron. Directed by E J Babcock with W B Snyder and a team, the plant refines lignite into briquettes and gas, producing 13 000 cubic feet per ton with strong lighting and heating potential for city use.
