Twelve Die in Norris Rock Island Wreck in Iowa
Twelve people were killed and twelve injured when an express train on the Rock Island Railroad jumped the track near Norris Iowa and collided with a freight train. The smoking car was demolished. Dr Charles J Keefe aided victims amid wreckage as rescuers arrived.

The James River bank was dynamited between two and four Friday morning. Robbers looted about $8,000 in cash and valuable papers. Seven charges were used. Guarded by guards at the front and rear. hotel guest Frank Fitzpatrick wounded but not in danger. Looters fled on a handcar from a Chicago Northwestern section house.

Hindus Driven Out of Bellingham in Race Riot
In Bellingham Washington on September 6 a mob of about 500 white men raided mills and lodging houses, beating six Hindu men and detaining 400 Sikhs. Police failed to stop the violence as Hindus were driven toward the city limits and toward Canada with 750 Indians fleeing along the Great Northern railway seeking British protection.

Pickpockets Fight Conductor On Rock Island Train
Three armed crooks who robbed passengers at Lincoln attacked Conductor Henry Duval on the Rocky Mountain limited near Alvo station in Nebraska. After a knife threat he and the robbers fought, the men leaped from the moving train eight miles west of Alvo and escaped. Special agents seek the fugitives with descriptions issued to the public.

Ten Dead In Hotel Fire At Shelton Washington
Ten people are known to have died in the Webb hotel fire at Shelton Washington early Thursday. One more person is dying and others may be found in the ruins. The blaze started about 1 40 am in the annex perhaps from a cigar dropped in the sample room. The hotel was three stories high with lodgers on the top floor and the exact number is unknown.
