Dies Sudden Death of Walter Sprague Tuesday Evening
Walter Sprague, half brother of George Spaun, owner of the Williston Hotel building, died suddenly Tuesday evening at 6 30 from heart failure. George Spaun and Loyal Sprague, his son, were notified by telephone while at White Earth and traveled up with Mrs. Spaun. The body was shipped to Ypsilanti Michigan. Sprague had shown no prior illness and his death shocked local residents. Dr. Wood, the nearby veterinarian, heard a call from Sprague around six o'clock.

Explosion takes off miner's hand near Williston
Jack Sykes, a miner at the Avo ca coal mine, had his left hand blown off and suffered neck, breast and left thigh injuries when a box of dynamite caps exploded as he carried it to the mine Tuesday morning. The hand bones were blown into his thigh and later removed by a doctor. Part of the box flew into his breast and a hole tore his side. Pieces of caps entered his neck. He was brought to Hagen hospital in Williston for treatment and was reported to be improving.
