Three Petitions To Cut Billings County Divisions
Medora North Dakota September 1 three petitions have been filed with the county commissioners seeking new counties from Billings. One would form Roosevelt county from the four northern townships another would form Butte county from the southern townships and a third would create Golden county using parts of the western tiers including twelve congregational townships in Roosevelt and two in Butte. Approval requires a countywide majority and Golden voters may oppose the other two petitions.

Ward county irrigation interest grows in North Dakota
In Ward county this fall there is strong interest in irrigation projects. The state engineer receives daily inquiries from Renville Burke and Ward counties. Two projects operated this year produced satisfactory results, with about 1 000 acres irrigated and plans for about a dozen more under consideration as Engineer Atkinson prepares to visit local counties.

Four Killed and Four Injured by Lightning in North Dakota
A Crawford Osborne threshing crew tent in LaMoure County was struck by lightning during a light rain. Four men died Fred Osborne Berlin N D Murray Ellis LaMoure Peter M Nelson Fosston Minn Ed Peterson residence unknown. Injured Dan Wardwell James Carey Paul Crawford and a transient laborer. Four other occupants escaped with severe burns and were revived on arrival. Murray Ellis a LaMoure resident and Peter M Nelson Fargo College student were named among the dead. Efforts to locate Ed Peterson's home proved unsatisfactory. Paul Osborns suffered extensive burns.
