Drowned transient in murky river near Great Northern plant
A. L. Webster of Billings Montana, a transient, drowned in the river near the Great Northern pumping plant after cramps. The body, later identified by clothing and a hunting license, is not expected to be recovered for about nine days. Webster may have belonged to the local so-called jungle pot gang.

Farmer Kills Wife Then Ends Own Life in Spring Brook
Alex Peters, a farmer near Spring Brook, attacked his wife with a hatchet during a morning assault after awakening. He wounded the woman fatally and injured a child, then killed himself with a shotgun. The couple’s three other children escaped by fleeing to a roof and ground outside. Peters reportedly doused papers with kerosene before the tragedy.

City water and light station undergoes complete repairs
This week the city water and light station nears completion with a new 15 horsepower centrifugal pump to feed settling tanks and maintain mains pressure. Four boilers overhauled, new brick casing, and upgraded transformers cut current draw. new settling tank grade and eighty feet of eight inch steel mains laid to replace the troublesome tile main.

Mandan Steamboat Turned Back From Milk River Run
The Mandan pushed toward Mondak last week aiming for the Milk River mouth but low water halted progress. Soundings showed only about two feet of depth while the boat needs three, forcing a return to the dock.
