U S Steamer Mandan Reaches Williston After Snag Battle

The U S S Mandan docked at Williston for coal and orders from Major Schulz after pushing up river toward Milk River. The ship, built in 1891, underwent a full overhaul at Gasconade, with a new boiler installed. Captain Gould and a crew of seventeen navigate the Missouri snag from river beavers and sandbars while stumps from three beaver felled trees are collected for historical societies.

Judges Adopt New District Court Rules Effective September

Judges Leighton of the eighth Barr of the ninth and Fisk of the eleventh district set a new district court rule kit for their districts. The rules take effect September 1 and will be printed soon for attorneys in those courts.

Rummage Sale Set by Congregation Ladies

The ladies of the Congregational church announce a rummage sale Friday and Saturday September 12 and 13. Clothes and house furnishings will be sold at various counters. Lunch will be served both days and a food sale is planned for Saturday.

Doctor Hagan Leaves Ontario for Mayo Clinic then Chicago

Emily Cannon seeks an annulment from Clarence Cannon with the case heard by Judge Fisk last week. Attorney Walters for Mrs. Cannon and Attorney Owens for the defense appeared. Mrs Gilbert Styve of Plentywood died at Williston Hospital Saturday night from typhoid fever. Funeral services were held at Houge Synod church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Falkanger with interment in Williston cemetery.

Yellen Named New Rabbi for Williston Synagogue

Rev. Yellen arrived in the city Wednesday from La Crosse Wisconsin to take charge of the Jewish synagogue in Williston. He has been in the United States for a year after emigrating from Russia where his family remains.

J H Phelps returned Monday from a school trip visiting Tioga and nearby points. He reports every crop looks better than expected with flax especially promising, though recent frosts have damaged corn, with Sunday night frost causing extensive harm.
