Williston Concert Band gains stature and members

The Williston Concert Band formed in 1905 grew under leader Robert Bell and later Prof Onstad. With 26 members, open air Friday concerts drew locals as the Chicago Glee Club visit was announced for October 24.

Man Drowns In Northern Reservoir at Tagus

A man named John Somers and his team drowned in the Great Northern Reservoir at Tagus last Thursday afternoon while returning from a drive. The incident is being investigated locally.

Death of Mrs LeDosquet in New York City 1906

Obituary recalls Mrs. LeDosquet died Sept 11 1906 in New York City after long illness. She moved to Williston in 1889 and was active in the Congregational church Ladies Aid and Loyalty Rebecca Lodge. She was married to John LeDosquet in 1859 and left five children including F H Van Dyke and John LeDosquet. funeral held Sept 13 in New York City with burial beside her husband.

Fire destroys Soo round house at Bismarck

A Wednesday fire at the Soo round house in Bismarck wiped out the round house, shops, three engines and a box car. The $100,000 loss stemmed from an oil room blaze likely caused by spontaneous combustion as wind fed the flames across the building. An engineer on one engine escaped by jumping clear as flames surrounded the locomotive.

Four Men Bound Over in Avoca Holdup Case

Four men named Albert Holby Arthur Brown R Braken and A A Morton bound over to district court after a Saturday robbery near Avoca. They allegedly stopped a colored man Chas Somerville at the stock yards took about thirty dollars after forcing him to strip then allowed him to dress before he was released. Somerville alerted the sheriff by phone and tracked down the suspects near Springbrook under a bridge.

The Saturday hearing over a land claim involves Mrs. Allen filing proof after squatting on a quarter found to be in a school section. John A. Rea Sr. previously bought the land. attorneys included Judge Davis, John F. Pilbrick, A L Knauf, with witnesses Waller Snyder Emory and others. The case drew steady attention.

City Buys Fire Hose For New Water Works System

The city council purchased 1500 feet of used fire hose from Eureka Fire Hose Company with Chas N Dickson aiding selection. The deal included two hose carts four nozzles and other supplies. Dickson donated a nozzle and offered repair service while praising the city water works as a top state system.
