Seed going into furrow first ensures uniform depth
The seed must reach the furrow before any soil or debris to ensure uniform depth. Other seeders drop seed behind the axle and into loose soil, causing variable depth and poor emergence. Surface or shallowly buried seeds kill quickly in dry heat and reduce yield and grade by uneven ripening and lower price per bushel.
