Washington March 19 The House repud iated Speaker Cannon 132 to 160 overruling his ruling on Norris Nebraska plan to reform the rules committee The fight exposed the insurgent Republican Democrat coalition and signaled removal of Cannon from the rules chair Washington March 22 Republicans plan a six member new rules committee and Democrats four with Cannon sidelined as the sides prepare to name members.

Sacred Band Concert Sunday In Star Theatre

The Williston concert band presents a sacred concert at Star Theatre next Sunday at three o'clock. A new feature is the harp solo. Admission is free with a collection encouraged to support band finances.

Lignite coal rate ruling to cut transport costs in North Dakota

The U S Supreme Court upheld the coal rate law as constitutional allowing lignite coal to be hauled from Williston to Fargo at 1 47 per ton a saving of one third over the old rate. The 1907 law aims to make cheaper lignite available statewide with especially beneficial effects for eastern distant points. Prospects grow for railroad car supply under the 1907 demurrage act with fines of 2 for each day a car is not delivered after seventy six hours.
